Moonface Offers Free Track that Didn’t Make It on to Organ Music

Posted on 06 August 2011 by James Gentry

Moonface had this to say about his recent offering up of his “angry duck that didn’t get along with the other songs.”  Download the track at Moonface.ca.

Here, take this. It’s a song that was cut from the record – an angry duck that didn’t get along with the other songs on the Organ Music LP. That is not to say it’s a bad song (though not to say it’s a good song, either), it’s just something I made that I don’t know what to do with. It’s more techno, or something, than the rest of the Organ Music LP. Less silky. But still, I thought it was worth sharing, for anyone who cares. It’s more than a pile of wet leaves. Maybe it’s something you can listen to while you do the dishes, or draw, or teach your baby to dance. So if you’re inclined, click on the link provided here and do with it what you will. The actual album, Organ Music Not Vibraphone Like I’d Hoped, is due out August 2nd, as planned, and that one I will demand your love for.

Thanks,
everyone and anyone,
for caring enough to get even this far.

sincerely,
Moonface

LYRICS:

The way you wish you could live in the storm
The way you wish you could live in the storm
Is so naive, like a
Little bright bug

Sometimes we live in the storm, sometimes
We hate everything
We carry our shit around on our hips
We drink it down on the museum steps

We push our whole body through the
Worn blue cloth of the
Traveling party

Just to raise the edges
Over our heads, and
Pour the collected pulp of
Sleeplessness
Back into our mouths

(Like rainwater from a palm leaf)
Sometimes we never stop
Sometimes we never stop
It’s not for you, little bug
It’s not for you
Little bug

You have to learn
Sometimes the storm will be an
Eager beast
On the far side of the fence
You want so bad
To have
But you can’t

I know you wish you could live in the storm
The way you wish you could live in the storm

But all you can do
Is stick your fingers
Through the chain-link
And move them stiffly
Over the night
