Portland, OR’s dark-pop greats Southerly have announced the recorded and live debut of a new live performance-based film scoring A/V project called SNDTRKR (Soundtracker). The group comprised of Krist Krueger and Eli Jemison (both from Southerly) launches US west coast tour next week to promote their upcoming recorded debut.
SNDTRKR‘s first recording, Inglorious Debut will be available via CD and digital download January 18th, 2011. Check out the MP3 edit of “Inglorious Finale” HERE. Stream the complete debut recording HERE. The band’s dark hypnotic sound is often compared to Godspeed You Black Emperor, Deerhunter, A Silver Mt. Zion, Mogwai, et al.
SNDTRKR writes live soundtrack music on stage in conjunction with select films and self-filmed/edited video as well as at times simply creating soundscapes to complement the room. Plans for a full-length CD/DVD release are also in process, and will be announced soon.
Southerly is the nom-de-tune of Krist Krueger, whose most recent release was the lush, layered work titled Champion Of The Noisy Negativists. The digital/vinyl EP follows the artist’s celebrated 2007 album, Storyteller And The Gossip Columnist (Greyday Records).
