I have a suggestion for your weekend: STOP stewing over the did they or didn’t they breakup of New York’s Harlem Shakes and turn your frown upside down by checking out the Shakes’ guitarist, Todd Goldstein. Goldstein’s separate endeavor, ARMS, is completely fantastic. That’s right – completely!
With ARMS, Goldstein has taken homegrown folk ballads and turned them into torrid musical affairs. I don’t want to take the easy road and resort to Conor Oberst references, because I honestly like this better than anything Oberst has churned out in years. However, the “lo-fi, singer-songwriter recording in a bedroom all alone” element is definitely present in ARMS’ music. Kids Aflame, the already lauded debut, drops officially on November 12th. Until then, you can check out the video for the  title track.
